Copywriting Archives

I know it’s a bit late, but after two days of no internet access due to storms and power outages I’ve finally been able to post the September edition of Answers eMagazine.

In this month’s issue we’ve discussed sales letters and I’ve given you some tips on how you can increase your conversion rate, we’ve continued our discussion of giveaway events by talking about how to build profit into them, and we’ve explored how you can choose the right subscriber incentive for your market.

In addition, we’ve got an article about the branding power of article marketing and I’ve put together a step-by-step tutorial on how to upsell while using Clickbank.

Subscribers can get their copy anytime in the subscriber area, as well as download all back issues of Answers eMagazine.

If you’re not a subscriber, but you’d like to become one, you can sign up to get your own copy of Answers at:

In this month’s issue we’ll discuss giveaway events and how to use them to build your email list, talk about how AIDA can help you write your next sales letter, and I reviewed the Top Secret Magic Code. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this review. I’ll give you a hint… it was ugly.

In addition, there’s also a couple of other articles that I think you’ll like, including my take on the American Presidential Election marketing campaigns.

Only subscribers can get current and archived issues, so I hope you’ll subscribe now!

Did you know that Americans get an average of 1.7 pieces of junk mail everyday (I know it seems like at least twice that at my house!)? It’s estimated that 75% of that junk mail goes straight to the trash before it’s even opened, so the real challenge for most businesses that use direct marketing is to actually get people to open their pieces.

You just can’t sell people your product if they never even see your message… that’s the first big hurtle in direct marketing.

Recently I received a piece of unsolicited mail that got my attention… In fact, it actually got me to open it even though I knew I wasn’t interested in this company. Let me set it up for you. Read the rest of this entry

As you already know, this is a pretty new ezine, so it’s taken me some time to settle in to a format and a system for producing it… I think this is our best issue yet, but I hope you’ll let me know what you think of it!

This month we’ve tackled a variety of topics such as how to profit from your email list, ebook creation strategies, and even business cards for online business.  Oh, I almost forgot… Part 2 of List Building: 62 Super Strategies For Gaining Subscribers is also in this issue.

I’m already hot on the job planning out next month’s issue, so if there is something in particular you’d like to see, let me know!

I’ve always been a big fan of swipe files. It’s taken me over 10 years to develop a reasonable collection of swipe files to help me with my copywriting. For years I’ve collected direct marketing pieces, online sales letters, autoresponder messages, etc. that I thought were particularly effective. I have dozens of file folders full of hundreds of pieces… and I drag it all out and spread it all over the living room and my office when I need to get a little copywriting inspiration.

It’s a huge mess!

You see, whenever I see a direct marketing piece that has a great headline, awesome bullets, a really terrific closing, etc., I keep the entire direct marketing piece so that the part I want to swipe stays in context. I try to keep them organized, but it’s nearly impossible! The real problem is that I can rarely find what I want when I want it.

How frustrating!!! Read the rest of this entry
